New VenueThe venue renovations continue. This time I can report without too many problems... This should see the new upstairs venue open in October. The completed space will have a larger more comfortable capacity, bar, great stage and live space complete with the proverbial chill-out area... There are further additions to come later down the track. Can we say at this point there will be no designer furniture, no burn orange lounges and no glass, marble and stainless steel fixtures.... It will be a simple but great "Live Music" space. We will also have later in the year the capacity to webcast shows, two links and with any luck all age shows (pending licensing approvals)... Exciting Stuff......... Our Community - "Newtown"As most would be aware we are in the centre of Newtown - Marrickville Council's - "Entertainment Precinct". Since we took over the Sando we have had certain issues with a very small number of neighbours. It has always been our goal to "fit into" an artistic community and provide a facility for a majority of the community to use. I am glad to say after discussions, hearing and the odd confrontation we continue to do this despite the small number of objections. The Sando provides:-
The Sando is also involved in raising money for RPA Children's Hospital, in local events such as Feastability and the Newtown Festival and enjoys providing a Lounge Room for many locals who simply don't have much more than four walls to live in... At times it has been hard but we will continue to try to provide the wonderful community of Newtown with the best Lounge room possible...
